Henry the Navigator was born in 1394

Infante Henry, also known as Henry the Navigator, was an important figure in the early days of the Portuguese Empire and the Age of Discoveries in toCronica_Guinetal. He was responsible for the early development of European exploration and maritime trade with other continents.

He was born in Porto (4 March 1394) and died in Sagres, Algarve (13 November 1460). Henry was the third child of King John I of Portugal, founder of the Avis dynasty, and of Philippa of Lancaster, John of Gaunt’s daughter.
